Everyone has questions when planning a vacation. How you deal with those questions and formulate your answer could determine if you have an excellent vacation, an OK getaway … or a horrible experience. When planning that perfect vacation getaway to Aspen, Colorado, many questions and concerns can arise during the planning process, even if you’ve been to Aspen numerous times before. So, how do you execute the perfect Aspen vacation? This week, our blog team sits down with members of the Frias Properties front desk staff to find out some of the frequently asked questions (FAQs) that guest have, both on the phone and when they walk in the door.

A familiar face at Frias Properties, Lynn (formerly Armstrong) Burton has been with the company since 2007 in a front desk role. She currently serves as the Frias guest services manager, assisting guests with everything from check-ins to luggage delivery to last-minute special requests. Our repeat guests and owners rave about Lynn’s commitment and cheerful demeanor!

Laura (formerly Meyer) Steimle has been at the Frias Properties front desk since April 2012. Most of Laura’s responsibilities revolve around assisting our guests. She can assist with reservations, check-ins, last-minute changes and requests, airport transfers, luggage delivery and housekeeping requests. She’s also an excellent point of contact should you need anything while you are here.

I hope Lynn and Laura are up for the challenge! Below, we fire off some questions. Here we go:

Q: Where do I go to check in?

Laura: “It depends on what unit you’re in. “

Lynn: “Yes. There are four check-in locations, depending on which room, condominium or home you are staying in. Our main Frias office is located at 730 East Durant Avenue.  The following properties check-in at this location:  100 Park, 101 Park, 210 #2D, 330 West Bleeker, Aspen Club Condos, Aspen Townhouse East, Black Swan B, Concept 600, Chateau Aspen, Chateau Chaumont, Chateau Dumont, Chateau Eau Claire, Chateau Roaring Fork, Chateau Snow, Clarendon, Cottonwoods, Durant Mews, Glory Hole C, The Gant K301, Greystone, Harder Residence, Hoguet Residence, Le Clairvaux, Little Nell condos, Obermeyer Place 102, Old Hundred, River View 8, Red Mountain Retreat/Rubel Residence, Ute 204 and Waltz Residence.”

“Our second office/check-in location is at the Fasching Haus Condominiums, which is located at 747 South Galena Street.  The following properties check-in at this location:  700 Monarch, Alpenblick, Aspen Mountain Townhome B, Durant Condos, Dolomite Villas, Fasching Haus Condos, Fifth Avenue Condos, Mountain Queen 5, Shadow Mountain and Timber Ridge 3E.”

“All Independence Square hotel guests check-in at the Independence Square Hotel, which is located at 404 South Galena.  It is down the stairs, next to Roots, which is next to Belly Up.”

“All Silverglo Condominium guests check-in at the Silverglo, which is located at 940 Waters Avenue.”

Q: What are your office hours?

Laura: “Monday through Sunday, 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. in season. Monday through Saturday 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the off season at our main office.”

Lynn: “The 747 South Galena Street front desk is open from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. every day during season. The Independence Square Hotel front desk is open from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. every day during season. The Silverglo front desk is open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. every day during season. “

Q: What if I arrive after hours?

Lynn: “All Frias offices, excluding The Independence Square Hotel have a red courtesy phone outside each front door.  Guests that arrive after-hours are to come to their check-in location and pick up the red courtesy phone which will automatically connect them to our answering service, Best Connections.  The guest will give their name to the dispatcher and they will send over a guard to check the guest in.  The guard will arrive in 5-10 minutes or less and let the guest into the office where their check-in packet awaits.  The check-in packet  The guard will ask the guest to fill in their contact information on their “guest registration form” and will also ask the guest for a credit card number to ‘hold,’ but not charge – guests have paid in full by check-in date. The Independence Square Hotel has a ‘late check-in’ box outside their front door where guests’ keys and check-in instructions are left in an envelope with their name on front. “

Q: How do I get from the airport to my condo?

Laura: “Call our office ahead of time with the details of your flight and time, and we will arrange for a car to pick you up!”

Lynn: “There is also a courtesy phone at the airport by the doors leaving arrivals.  It is marked ‘Frias Properties.’ Guests pick up this phone to be directly connected to Smiddy Limousine, who provides our complimentary airport transportation.  Smiddy Limousine will take our guests to check-in and then to the rental property. If guests are driving themselves, exit the airport and take Highway 82 south into Aspen.  Highway 82 turns into Main Street after the S-turn.  Follow Main Street until it curves towards the mountain and turns into Original Street, approximately one mile.  Directions from there vary depending on the check-in location. “
