Aspen Ski Vacation Specials and Lodging Deals

The slopes in Snowmass, Colorado will open ahead of schedule to kick off the 2011/2012 ski season. Skiers can hit the slopes five days ahead of schedule on Saturday, November 19. Skiers will have access to more than 3,200 vertical feet, on 7 runs, and 160 acres of skiable terrain.

In addition to the ski runs, snowboarders and riders will have access to two terrain parks. Snowmass Mountain services, ski schools, restaurant operations, and the Treehouse Kids Adventure center will be open.

“The 2011-12 season has started as a talented overachiever with near perfect snowmaking temperatures and abundant natural snowfall,” said Rich Burkley, vice president of mountain operations,” in a Aspen Skico press release.

Early season skiers can expect good conditions due to recent snowfall, and the weather forecast calls for additional snow to accumulate during the next 72 hours. Aspen Mountain is scheduled to open on Thanksgiving day, November 24, 2011. Aspen Highlands and Buttermilk Mountain are scheduled to open on December 10, 2011.

Same Time, Next Year

One of the most popular romantic comedies ever, the Tony Award-winning comedy Same Time, Next Year follows a love affair between two people who rendezvous once a year, on the anniversary of their first tryst. The play drops in on the couple in five year intervals to chronicle their personal evolutions against the backdrop of social change. Twenty-five years of manners, morals and attitudes are hilariously enacted by the lovers who, incidentally, are married to other people.

Come join the Aspen Valley Ski and Snowboard Club for our annual Ski and Snowboard Day on Wednesday, November 25th. Aspen Skiing Company has generously allowed AVSC access to the mountain the day before the official opening day to help the Club raise much need funds.

Tickets can be purchased at the Gondola ticket plaza at the base of Aspen Mountain starting at 8:30 a.m. The cost is $35 for adults and $15 for kids ages 18 and under. All proceeds go to benefit the Aspen Valley Ski and Snowboard Club.

AVSC is the valley’s oldest and largest youth non-profit organization reaching over 1,900 children and adolescents. The Club engages them in winter sports that teach our core values of commitment, teamwork and integrity. AVSC is a model of snow sports integration with 18% of our participants coming from Latino households. Over 550 children and teens got scholarships to participate last season and our goal is to reach every interested child regardless of circumstance.
