First Snowfall of the Season: Aspen, CO

Published by at under Vacation Planning

Winter came early this year in Aspen, Colorado.  With over 13 inches in 1 day, this early snowfall has set the pace for a solid winter season.

The first storm of the season brought in high winds and heavy snow fall early Monday morning, which resulted in the closure of both Highway 82 over Independence Pass and the Pitkin County Airport.  The Colorado Department of Transportation said the closure of the pass is temporary and will be re-opened after the storm clears.

More than 24 hours later the snow is still falling, gearing Aspen/Snowmass up for the start of the 2010-2011 ski season!

With opening day just around the corner, Frias Properties of Aspen is offering an exclusive deal for vacationers – in honor of the first snow fall.  Reserve your Aspen vacation with us today through November 15 and receive 15% off of your stay when you use promotional code  Snow15.
