Frias Properties of Aspen staff members assembled in the reservations area at the main office on Friday, Nov. 4, to vote on their winter 2011-12 wine selection.

For more than 12 years, Frias has delivered holiday cheer to their partners throughout Aspen, Snowmass and Glenwood Springs.  These vacation specialists include, but are not limited to, Stay Aspen Snowmass and, as well as real estate brokers based in and around Aspen.

The winning vintage also will be used as the company’s primary beverage of choice for select visitors and guests.

Staff members had 12 red wines to choose from. Each staff member had three votes to disperse among the wines, and could vote more than once for the same brand. In the end, staff members selected the 2009 Hot to Trot Red Blend by 14 Hands winery inWashingtonstate. The blend is predominantly merlot, along with cabernet sauvignon, syrah and petit verdot.

According to winemaker Keith Kenison (from the 14 Hands website), the blend “opens with generous aromas of crème de cassis and sweet blackberries.” The fleshy, dark fruit is joined by notes of wild huckleberries and a subtle pie crust nuance, and is balanced by soft a velvety tannins.

“This smooth, easy drinking wine finishes with hints of toast and mocha,” Kenison added.
