While Aspen summers are known for marquee festivals and special events, the coronavirus pandemic has changed the landscape of the 2020 summer season.

Don't worry: there is still plenty to do! In addition to our plethora of outdoor activities, there are many weekly recurring events that you can opt into at short notice!

Aspen events summer 2020

Aspen Mountain Naturalist-Led Walk | Daily, on the hour between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. through Oct. 4

Learn about wildflowers, wildlife, mining history, and more on naturalist-led tours atop Aspen Mountain, presented by Aspen Center for Environmental Studies (ACES). Meet outside the Silver Queen Gondola terminus for this 45-minute, easy hike (one-mile distance) that departs on the hour between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. Reservations are not required, but you must purchase a gondola ticket. Aspen Summer Events

Mountaintop Yoga on Aspen Mountain | Weekdays at 10:30 a.m. through Aug. 31

Ride the Aspen Mountain gondola or hike up to mountaintop yoga! These one-hour classes are led by Aspen Shakti yoga instructors in a beautiful meadow atop Aspen Mountain. Participants must bring their own mats; cost is $10 paid directly to the yoga instructor. MORE INFO >>

Aspen Weekly Summer Events

Birds of Prey Training & Feeding | Monday through Saturday, 4 p.m., end-date not yet announced

It is the Summer of Raptors at Aspen Center for Environmental Studies (ACES). Join naturalists as they feed and conduct flight demonstrations, and learn about the important role raptors play as keystone predators. Advanced registration is required, and there is a suggested donation of $5 to $10 per family. MORE INFO >>

Snowmass Ice Age Discovery Walks

Snowmass Ice Age Discovery Hike | Daily, 1 - 3 p.m., end-date not yet announced

Learn about Snowmass's incredible Ice Age Discovery Dig on a naturalist-led tour, presented by Aspen Center for Environmental Studies (ACES). Participants meet outside the Snowmass Pavilion on the Snowmass Village Mall and embark on a 3.5-mile, moderate hike that lasts two hours. No reservations required; this activity is free. Snowmass Bonus Nights

Snowmass Bonus Nights | Tuesdays from 4 - 7:30 p.m. through Aug. 11

Snowmass stays open late on Tuesday nights throughout the summer. Enjoy beautiful mountain evenings at Elk Camp atop Snowmass ski area. Ride the Elk Camp Gondola for free, starting at 5 p.m. (The last ride up is at 7:30 p.m., and the last ride down is at 8 p.m.) Elk Camp Restaurant is open from 5 p.m. - 7:30 p.m. with live music on the deck, food specials, and takeaway options. Aspen History Tours

Aspen History Tours | Tuesdays through Saturdays at 10:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. through Oct. 2

Aspen Historical Society leads a variety of tours that give visitors a glimpse into Aspen's storied past. Lasting between one and two hours, these tours are conducted outdoors with social distancing precautions in place. MORE INFO >>

Drive-In Movies Buttermilk

Movies at the Audi Drive-In Theater at Buttermilk | Wednesdays & Saturdays, 8:30 or 8:45 - 11 p.m. extended through Sept. 12!

Aspen Snowmass, in partnership with Audi and Bumble, presents a series of drive-in movies this summer. Pile into the family car and head to the Buttermilk, where the drive-in theater features a 40-foot screen with surround sound piped into vehicles via FM radio. The line-up includes classic, family friendly movies, and the beautiful setting offers the perfect backdrop for the stay-in or stay-on-your-car seating. MORE INFO >>

Brews Bands Bingo Snowmass

Brews, Bands & Bingo in Snowmass | Thursdays, 5 - 7 p.m. through Sept. 24

Spend Thursday evenings in Snowmass Base Village and the Snowmass Village Mall. Enjoy food and drink specials, sidewalk sales, and live music. From 6 - 7 p.m., partake in a free community bingo game at The Collective. MORE INFO >>

King Yoga Jam at Snowmass

King Yoga Jam Class in Snowmass | Fridays, 6 - 7 p.m. through Sept. 2

Led by renowned instructor Aaron King, King Yoga Jam Class takes place on the Snowmass rink with live music by local musicians. Participants are asked to bring their own equipment and water and space themselves at least six feet apart. Classes are open to all levels, and reservations are required; call or text (602) 300-0839 and prepay $20 with Venmo (@king-yoga) or bring cash. MORE INFO >>

Ajax Tavern Movie Nights

Dinner & a Movie at Ajax Tavern | Fridays at 8:30 p.m. through Aug. 21

Sit on the patio and order off the Ajax Tavern menu, or reserve a Veuve Clicquot-themed picnic blanket and basket filled with a bottle of champagne, fried chicken with Georgia honey mustard sauce, kale slaw, potato snap pea salad, truffle popcorn, and chocolate mud ($150). MORE INFO >>

Aspen Saturday Market

Aspen Saturday Market | Saturdays, 8:30 a.m. - 1 p.m. through Sept. 5

Shop for fresh Colorado produce, meats, cheeses, and other locally grown food at the Aspen Saturday Market. This summer, only food vendors are included in the market, and crowd controls are in place. MORE INFO >>

Snowmass Social Saturdays

Social Saturdays in Snowmass | Saturdays, 5 - 8 p.m. through Sept. 26 (except Sept. 12)

The Snowmass Mall comes alive with local music, food & drink specials, and activities for all ages. Enjoy family-friendly entertainment, including stilt walkers, acrobats, magic shows, bubbles, and more. Select Saturdays feature chalk art competitions, a strider bike race series, an aerialist, and the Rosybelle Mobile Art Bus (Aug. 8 & Aug. 15). Stick around for late-night Movies Under the Stars starting at 8 p.m. in Snowmass Base Village. MORE INFO >>
