Published by at under Things To Do

This week, Frias Properties human resources manager and assistant to the managing partners Christina Kazmierski gives us a first-hand account of her Bikram Yoga experiences in Aspen!

Lights are dimmed. Intense warmth surrounds you. The sounds of smooth music and your own deep breathes allow you to connect & listen to your body. The process of clearing the mind, cleansing the soul, and rejuvenating the body begins. You are in Bikram Yoga.

Yoga is a meditative Hindu discipline to promote control of the body and mind through the combination of various postures & poses and controlled breathing. While Bikram Yoga uses the same basics but focuses on cleansing the body from the inside out by sweating due to induced high temperatures. Aspen is known as a place to get in touch with mother nature via the beautiful Rocky Mountains and your own mind & spirit at the same time. Yoga, whether it’s is Birkram or not, is a great way to do this.

The Aspen Club & Spa offers a number of yoga and Pilates classes. All Frias Properties guests receive complimentary passes to the Aspen Club & Spa!

There are many places in Aspen and the Roaring Fork Valley that you can do yoga. You can either attend an instructed class or, if you are advanced, you can do it in your own backyard.

Some local studios:

Some easy to get to peaceful spots for private yoga sessions:

  • Top of Aspen Mountain
  • Hallam Lake
  • American Lake
  • The Grottos – up Independence pass
  • Large slab rocks along the Roaring Fork River

Aspen is known more for the physical activities you can take advantage of like biking, rafting, and hiking, but yoga can offer a time to reflect on all these great activities you’ve done and help to rejuvenate your body to do them again. Whether you are a man or a woman, I encourage everyone to try this activity at least once. It may not be for you, but it may be, and it could be what you have been searching for to cleanse your mind, body and soul all at once.

Book Your Yoga Getaway With Frias: All Frias Properties of Aspen guests receive complimentary passes to the Aspen Club & Spa, the valley’s premier full-service spa and workout facility.
