Aspen Snowmass Vacation Blog

For those looking for a little pampering while on vacation, Aspen, Colorado, might be the perfect place for a peaceful getaway. Aspen has a number of rejuvenating spas that promote wellness and healthy living - and can leave you feeling energized, youthful and joyful! Local day spas, such as the renown Aspen Club & Spa, offer a variety of personalized treatments, including facials, manicures and pedicures, massages and mud baths. And, with clientele ranging from young adults to retired couples, everyone can get in on the relaxation!

When you book your lodging with Frias Properties of Aspen, you're already halfway to paradise. All Frias Properties of Aspen guests receive complimentary passes to a local health club and spa, one of the valley's premier full-service spa and workout facility, offering everything from state-of-the-art exercise equipment to pampering spa treatments.

This week, our blog team sits down with some Frias Properties staffers for a little Q&A on where to go - and what treatments to get - when planning that perfect day of pampering.

Q: Name a few of the local spas that you have been to? Heather Nieslanik (Frias director of reservations): "The Aspen Club & Spa." Pam Bakios (Frias real estate office manager): "Remede Spa and the Aspen Club & Spa, as well as Spa of the Rockies, Glenwood Springs."

Q. What types of treatments do you prefer? Heather: "Haircut, manicure, massage." Pam: "Facials, body scrubs and massage."

Q: Why does it win your vote over the others? Heather: "Super friendly staff." Pam: "They have membership and local specials. Also, when you book a treatment, you can use the club."

Q: How far in advance should I book my spa day? Heather: "Depending on the time of year, about a week in advance." Pam: "Three days."

Q: Describe a normal experience at your favorite spa. What’s the most relaxing thing? Heather: "I enjoy the relaxation room with the fireplace and tea.  It is great to get to the appointment in advance and relax in this room." Pam: "The most relaxing thing is just sitting back and put everything behind you that was negative in your day."

Q: Tell us about the ambiance. Are there candles and music? Pam: "Sometimes you’ll have candles and music; usually you’ll have the music over candles. Your room is usually dark. You are lying down and your treatment begins. Sometimes you just want to lay there for a few hours to relax."

Q: Is the staff accommodating? Ever make any special requests? Heather: "The staff has always been very friendly and accommodating.   I have never asked for anything specific."

Q: How important is reputation when choosing a spa? Pam: "Reputation is very important. If you hear of a bad experience through a friend you might not opt to go to that spa for the same spa treatment."

Q: Are the towels soft? Heather: "Yes! Very soft and various sizes, along with robes and slippers." Pam: "Some are softer than others."

Q: You have $250 to spend on a spa day. What do you get? Heather: "Massage and manicure." Pam: "Facial for $125, plus manicure, plus pedicure."

Q: You have $1,000 on a spa day. What now? Heather: "Massage, manicure, pedicure, haircut and shopping in the pro shop." Pam: "I’d have a bunch of treatments. Perhaps they might have a special combination of spa treatments - Spa Aspen Glo, deluxe facial, manicure, pedicure and a hair blow out. How about lunch and a good glass of wine or champagne?"

Q: I’ll pay for one treatment. Name it. Heather: "Massage." Pam: "Facial."

Q: You and two friends are coming to Aspen for a spa weekend. Which Frias unit would you choose to stay in (2 or 3 bedroom) and why? (Click link to view units) Heather: "Clarendon #8.   This is such a beautiful townhome in a great downtown location located off the quiet and relaxing Glory Hole Park.   The spacious living area along with the pool and Jacuzzi would be a perfect getaway for our family." Pam: "We would stay in a 3-bedroom Clarendon unit in the central core, so it’s easy to walk to everything in town."

Q: What about hair and nails? Do you have a local recommendation for that? Heather: "The Aspen Club & Spa.   A great place to go for an awesome workout as well as all spa services." Pam: "The Aspen Club and Lather Salon for nails; Altitude Salon (Jerome) and Lather Salon for hair. If they're too busy, I’d call Salon Tullio."
