Aspen Snowmass Vacation Blog

Aspen is a perfect place for a family vacation, but this magical mountain town offers a number of activities that are strictly for adults. As with any world-class resort, there are solutions for keeping the kids happy while adults enjoy their vacations, too.

Daytime Childcare in Aspen

Snowmass is home to the renowned Treehouse Kids' Adventure Center, a 2,300-square-foot facility that offers childcare for kids ages eight weeks to four years old. Its Colorado-themed playrooms keep kids entertained all day, but if your young ones are old enough to ski, this is also homebase for the Ski & Snowboard Schools of Aspen Snowmass.

With its gentle slopes and expert ski school staff, Buttermilk is the  destination for first-time skiers, and the Hideout Children's Center adds to this mountain's appeal. Kids ages two to six participate in  group ski lessons at Buttermilk and use the Hideout as their ski-break playground. It's the ideal set-up to introduce kids to skiing and foster an early love of the sport.

During summer months, Camp Aspen Snowmass entertains kids ages three and up with age-appropriate activities in the great outdoors and inside the Treehouse. Children under three enjoy Cubs Camp Childcare, which also offers summer adventures and is based out of the Treehouse.

FAQs About Aspen Babysitting

Q: Should I hire an individual or a babysitter who works with a service?

A: We recommend working with one of our preferred babysitting services. These licensed companies have a staff of trusted babysitters, many of whom specialize in specific age ranges or activity interests.

Q: What's the average pay-rate for Aspen babysitting?

A: The typical rate for an Aspen babysitter is $20 to $25 per hour for one child and more for additional children. There may be a booking fee associated with hiring a babysitter through an Aspen babysitting service.

Q: How far in advance should I reserve a babysitter?

A: Advanced booking is always recommended, and most of the services we work with offer a cancellation policy that allows parents to change plans a few days in advance. If you are visiting Aspen during a holiday period, it's important to book a babysitter far in advance. For the Christmas and New Year's weeks, reservations must be made a couple months in advance.
