If you decide to drive to Aspen, Colorado, there is some important information you need to know about parking in town. There are very strict parking rules, and sometimes they can get confusing. So below, we take a closer look at all types of Aspen parking: downtown, residential, Rio Grande, Brush Creek and carpool rules.
Now, let's dig in to the particulars aEU| Downtown Parking - Downtown parking is limited to a maximum of four hours. Pay stations are located on every block and accept credit cards, tokens and change (no dollar bills). Parking tokens are available at businesses that display token decals on their windows. After receiving payment, the pay station will provide a receipt to be displayed face-up on the driver's side of your dashboard. You may also pay for parking via cell phone by calling 866-234-PARK (location code 2400). Visit PayByPhone.com to register for this service. Parking rates (subject to change):
- 1 hour - $2.00
- 2 hours - $5.00
- 3 hours - $8.00
- 4 hours - $12.00
Residential Parking - 2-Hour Free Parking is available. Drivers may park for free in any signed residential area for a maximum of two hours daily. Many lodges provide guests with permits that provide an exemption from the 2-hour limit. Residential Day Passes - Day Passes allow a vehicle to park in the residential areas for an entire day for $8.00. Dya passes may be purchased with a credit card from the residential parking meters located on each block. Pay by phone is also available using location code 2401 (see Downtown, above). You may also purchase a day pass at one of the following locations:
- Aspen Parking Department, 540 E. Main St.
- Airport Parking Kiosk
- Rio Grande Parking Plaza
- Wheeler Opera House Visitor's Center
- City Market locations
Rio Grande Parking Plaza - The Rio Grande Parking Plaza offers 24-hour economical covered parking. Parking in the Plaza can be purchased by the hour or day. Ten visit and monthly passes are available. Pay stations inside the parking plaza accept Visa, Mastercard or American Express. From the plaza, the free Galena Street Shuttle provides continuous service to downtown Aspen from 8:15 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. during the winter season. Free Parking at Brush Creek Park & Ride - Free parking is available at the Brush Creek Park & Ride at the intersection of Highway 82 and Brush Creek Road.
