One of the most popular summer activities in Aspen is golf. Makes sense, right? Aspen’s beautiful scenery provides the perfect backdrop at a number of local golf courses: The Aspen Golf Club, Maroon Creek Club, Snowmass Club, Roaring Fork Club, River Valley Ranch and Aspen Glen. If these amazing local courses aren’t enough to get your balls out of your bag, then phrases like “championship course,” “Jack Nicklaus Signature Course” and “Jewel of the Rockies” should do the trick. In the Rocky Mountains, nothing is par for the course. Let's take a closer look:

Aspen Golf Club: This challenging 7,156-yard, 18-hole course was ranked #21 in Golfweek Magazine’s 50 Best Municipal Golf Courses (U.S.), and is just minutes from downtown Aspen. The course was designed by Frank Hummel. There’s also a PGA award winning Pro Shop, a putting green, chipping area and practice hitting area; and full-service locker rooms; and on-site golf cart rentals. The on-site restaurant (Red Mountain Grill) offers an array of fine foods and beverages and is a hot spot for Happy Hour and après-ski.

Maroon Creek Club: The course, designed by Tom Fazio, offer a unique and challenging one-of-a-kind golfing experience just one mile west of Aspen. Members at the club enjoy the spectacular views and amenities at the Maroon Creek Club, including golf, tennis, swimming, fitness and fine dining.

Snowmass Club: This 18-hole Jim Engh-designed course offers big views and majestic landscapes along sculpted fairways and challenging greens. This traditional Irish links course is one that you, or your handicap, won’t soon forget. Offering five sets of tees, this course is a great adventure for all skill levels.

Roaring Fork Club: This Jack Nicklaus Signature Golf Course offers five holes that plan on or near either the Roaring Fork River or Spring Creek. Another five holes play through wetlands and lakes. The east-west design of the course allows for stunning views and dramatic play during both mornings and afternoons.

River Valley Ranch: This 520-acre golf and resort community rests along the banks of the Crystal River and is known as “the new jewel of the Rockies” by Golf Magazine. It was also recognized by Golf Magazine as one of the “Top 10 You Can Play” listing and was names to the Golder Magazine “Best of America’s New Courses” list.

Aspen Glen: Located down valley near Carbondale, this private, gated community features a co-designed Jack Nicklaus Signature Golf Course and offers a plethora of outdoor adventure in an idyllic setting with Roaring Fork River views and spectacular views of Mount Sopris.
