Aspen Snowmass Vacation Blog

Chateau Roaring Fork is one of our most popular buildings, and guests of these Aspen vacation rentals love the serenity the location offers. Most condos overlook the Roaring Fork River, and the complex features a large common area with a year-round heated pool, two hot tubs, a workout room, and a sauna.

Winter guests sometimes voice concerns about its location, four blocks from Aspen Mountain. In the summer, a four-block walk is no problem! But skiers and snowboarders are thinking about schlepping gear from their condo to the mountain, and any walk sounds daunting.

We created a short video to illustrate how this particular walk between Chateau Roaring Fork and Aspen Mountain is easy! Follow our Director of Operations, Mike Duffy, as he shows you this eight-minute route through a quiet neighborhood, along a flat, well-shoveled sidewalk.

As you can see in this video, we recommend wearing your regular snow boots and shouldering your ski boots and skis for the walk. (If you are a snowboarder, it's easier to wear your snowboard boots for the walk.) Once you reach Aspen Mountain, use the heated locker room to sit down and change into your ski boots. There’s free storage for your shoes or rental lockers if you have valuables to lock up.

And if you prefer even less walking, the free shuttle route has a stop just north of Chateau Roaring Fork. Simply walk across Cooper Ave. to Chateau Eau Claire and wait for the RFTA "Hunter Creek" bus that comes by every 20 minutes.
