The historic Wheeler Opera House was constructed in 1889 by one of the founding fathers of Aspen, Jerome Wheeler. The building served as a home to many institutions including the theater that still exists today. The Wheeler Opera House underwent a major interior renovation in 2016 that beautifully preserved the history of the space, and the exterior was refurbished and restored in 2021-22.
Today, the Wheeler hosts a diverse calendar of events throughout the year, from big musical acts to dynamic film festivals like MountainFilm. The beautiful opera house continues to be the hub for Aspen's on-stage (and on-screen) entertainment.
