Old-Fashioned July 4th Celebration

Small-town charm and big-ticket events!

The Old-Fashioned Fourth of July celebration in downtown Aspen brings together more than 20,000 local residents and visitors to honor the nation's birthday in true American style. Our small-town festivities include a downtown parade, live music, picnics, a kids' carnival, and a spectacular night time fireworks display over Aspen Mountain. (Fireworks display cancelled this year due to fire-danger restrictions.)

Aspen Fourth of July Schedule of Events:

8 a.m. -- 31st Annual Boogies Buddy Race, Rio Grande Park
Run the five-mile race or walk the one-mile course with your family and dog. Registration is $60 for adults, $15 for kids or $90 family rate for the one-mile walk. Proceeds go to the Buddy Program.

9:30 a.m. - 10:30 a.m. -- Bike Decorating at the Red Brick Center for the Arts
Get in a patriotic state of mind with this free event! Dress up your bike to cruise around downtown Aspen for a day of celebration!

10 a.m. - 2 p.m. -- 17th Annual "America's Birthday Carnival" at Paepcke Park
Sponsored by the Early Learning Center, this kid-friendly carnival hosts games, bounce houses, face painting, snow cones, a silent auction, live music and a BBQ lunch.

2017 SCHEDULE OF EVENTS (2018 schedule will be posted when available.)

11 a.m. -- Old Fashioned Fourth of July Parade
The marquee event of Aspen's Fourth of July celebration, the downtown parade starts on Main Street and snakes through downtown Aspen.

12 p.m. - 3 p.m. -- AVSC Annual Fourth of July Picnic at Kock Lumber Park
The Aspen Valley Ski & Snowboard Club hosts a family-friendly BBQ at one of Aspen's best parks. The party features live music, a dunk tank, snow cones, kids' games, a beer garden and the AVSC airbag! Lunch is $20 for adults and $10 for kids 10 & under.

4 p.m. -- Aspen Music Festival & School's FREE Fourth of July Concert at Benedict Music Tent
Conductor Lawrence Isaacson and the AMFS band present a stirring concert of patriotic favorites during this beloved tradition.

6 p.m. - 10:30 p.m. -- Dancing in the Streets on the corner of Mill Street and Cooper Ave.
Bring the family to Wagner Park for face painting, clowns, yard games and live music by Brothers Keeper from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. When the sun dips, DJ Naka G takes the stage for a glow-in-the-dark dance party from 8:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m.

9:15 p.m. -- Fireworks Extravaganza -- CANCELLED due to fire restrictions

9:30 p.m. -- Thievery Corporation at Belly Up Aspen
