Aspen Snowmass Vacation Blog

Happy New Year! We welcome you to 2023 with what seems to be endless snow, picturesque views, and energy - from visitors and locals alike - that is almost palpable. Across the four mountains in Aspen Snowmass, almost 100% of the terrain is open for skiing, snowboarding, uphilling, and other mountain fun.

At Frias Properties, we’re thankful to be celebrating 49 years of business in 2023. We’re excited about the traditional events Aspen hosts each winter as well as the return of the Audi FIS Ski World Cup in March. We look forward to hosting our guests this winter to create a memorable alpine experience. Here’s a preview of our staff’s favorite winter events and activities.

Winter Activities in Aspen

In addition to a great calendar of events, Aspen is home to a wide array of winter activities that cater to skiers and snowboarders along with those who prefer alternative activities. As you plan your vacation, here are a few of our favorite winter activities to consider:

  • Take a Lesson — Whether you are a never-ever skier or a seasoned veteran, ski and snowboard lessons at Aspen Snowmass are a great way to learn the four mountains. The experienced Pros at Aspen Snowmass aren’t just instructors, they are your guide and coach. You’ll build new skills along with getting to experience local’s insights across the four mountains.
  • Experience Art in Aspen — While Aspen may be known for its skiing and snowboarding, art and culture are also cornerstones of the Aspen community. Be sure to visit the Aspen Art Museum and the Resnick Center for Herbert Bayer Studies to view their current exhibits. Home to world-renowned art galleries, we recommend visiting Galerie Maximillian as they celebrate 25 years of art in Aspen. We also find a walk through the LIK Fine Art Gallery to be an inspiring experience.
  • Rest & Rejuvenate — There is no doubt Aspen is an active town. But that doesn’t mean we don’t also enjoy our downtime. Spend a day at the spa to relax and rejuvenate. A few of our favorites include the St Regis Aspen Spa, O2 Aspen, and Heaven on Earth. Learn more about spas in Aspen. Guests of Frias Properties can contact our Concierge for reservations and specific requests.
  • Visit Pine Creek for Lunch or Dinner — Turn your meal into an adventure when you head to Pine Creek Cookhouse. Located on Castle Creek Road, near the ghost town of Ashcroft, the restaurant not only offers a unique dining experience but also has unbeatable views of the Elk Mountains. The journey to this remote restaurant is half the fun. Diners ride a horse-drawn sleigh or snowshoe through snowy alpine groves to arrive at one of Aspen's most picturesque locales. You can also cross-country ski on beautifully groomed trails that weave through aspen forests. Reservations are required. Our guests can contact the Frias Concierge.

Are you looking for even more ideas for activities and adventures for your Aspen vacation this winter? Here’s a curated list of winter activities for non-skiers.
