Aspen Snowmass Vacation Blog

Aspen, Colorado, is one of the world's most renowned locations for a destination wedding. Each year, numerous couples exchange nuptials amidst the beauty and majesty of the Rocky Mountains, and no place is more popular than Aspen. Nestled in the White River National Forest, Aspen provides the ultimate, unforgettable mountain wedding experience!

This week, our blog team sits down with Frias Properties of Aspen Group Sales Manager Lisa Jennings to talk about how to plan and execute the perfect Aspen destination wedding.

Q: How popular is Aspen for destination weddings? A: “Extremely!   I can’t think of a more beautiful place.”

Q: Where’s the most popular place in Aspen to get married? A: “The top of the mountain offers amazing views at a unique location.”

Q: What are other popular locations around town or nearby? A: “T-Lazy-7 Ranch offers a true western experience, and the Roaring Fork Club offers the ultimate luxury wedding venue.”

Q: Who gets married in Aspen? A: “Anyone who has a special place for the Colorado mountains in their heart and wants their guests to experience this beautiful place as well.”

Q: When is the best time to get married in Aspen? A: “I especially love the Fall, when the leaves are changing.”

Q: Do people get married in Aspen in the winter? A: “Yes!   It is possible and the pictures turn out amazing!”

Q: I want an Aspen destination wedding. Where do I even start? A: “I would recommend first contacting the Aspen Wedding Guide  or your wedding planner.   They can help you sort through a budget and all of the different options Aspen has to offer.”

Q: What’s important for me to know when I first start planning my Aspen destination wedding? A: “Prioritize what is most important to you.   Get assistance from those that live in Aspen as planning a destination wedding can be overwhelming!”

Q: How far out should I start planning? A: “It’s never too early to start!”

Q: We’re having a small, private wedding with less than 20 guests. What do you recommend for lodging? A: “Frias Properties offers basic to luxury accommodations from hotel rooms up to six bedroom homes.   Contact me and I can help all your guests find the most appropriate lodging for their needs.”

Q: We’ve decided to have a larger wedding, with 100+ guests coming in from around the country. What do you have for groups that large? A: “Frias has great lodging complexes for groups including the Galena Street Neighborhood and Chateau Roaring Fork.   These complexes have conference space as well if you need a space to host a gathering.”

Q: What are some options for our wedding reception? A: “The Aspen Mountain Club and Roaring Fork Club are some of my favorites.  I would once again recommend reaching out to a planner to find the best fit based on your budget.”

Q: What about catering? Can you help with that? A: “Yes, there are numerous great catering companies in Aspen that I can recommend.  Many of the venues have their own catering staff on site.”

Q: How many days in advance should we arrive in Aspen prior to the wedding? A: “I would say at least a week!   It is one of the most important events in your life, you should relax and not have to worry about any of the details.  Plus it helps to adjust to the altitude!”

Q: We are interested in coming to Aspen to “scout it out” as a possible wedding destination. How do we go about that? A: “Contact me and I can assist with an introduction to Aspen lodging and overview of the town.”

Q: What makes Aspen better than other mountain towns like Vail, Estes Park or Telluride? A: “Aspen has all of the culture of a large city in a small town.   Aspen is very walkable and offers fantastic and unique lodging and dining options.”

Q: Do “normal” people actually get married in Aspen, or is it just the ultra-wealthy? A: “Everyone can, it just depends on your budget!   The wedding planners can assist with all kinds of weddings.”

Q: We have different family coming in at different times. Most are flying into Aspen. How do they get to town from the airport? A: “Frias Properties of Aspen offers a complimentary shuttle from Aspen airport.   I would not recommend renting a car once you get into Aspen.”
