Downtown Aspen offers roughly a dozen walkable blocks at its core and more to explore in the vicinity. The pedestrian-friendly retail centers are perfect for leisurely shopping and exploring everything from thrift and consignment to high-end boutiques. Aspen Outdoor Gear & Apparel

Whether you are looking for ski and snowboard gear, rentals, or apparel, there are a variety of ski shops clustered near the Silver Queen Gondola on Aspen Mountain. Four Mountain Sports has a great selection of ski and snowboard equipment with locations at each of the four mountains and free overnight equipment transfers between locations.  The Ute Mountaineer located on Galena Streeet, is a family-owner and operated store that has served the Aspen community since 1977.  The Ute offers ski, snowboard, and uphill rentals in addition to a large selection of men and women's outdoor apparel.

Colorado boasts amazing growing regions and a strong tradition of ranching which means an impressive amount of locally grown produce and local products. Meat & Cheese Restaurant & Farm Shop is a celebration of food with a robust selection of local products. Local goods are also part of the selection at Aspen’s Butcher’s Block with a variety of local, regional, and international specialty foods including charcuterie, caviar, cheese, chocolate, and the finest selection of aged steaks, fresh seafood, and chicken available in Aspen.

Aspen Gems

One of the coolest stores in Aspen is Daniel’s Antiques. Family-owned and operated by the Daniels family, stepping inside the store is like stepping back in time. Come check out their unique Black Forest sculptures circa the late 1800’s, vintage Louis Vuitton trunks, or even binoculars from WWII. 

Bookworms will love Explore Booksellers, an Aspen institution in a Victorian home in the center of town. You can find books on everything from business to history, art, and travel. Regional titles fill the shelves, as well as gift items, cards, and journals. The shop also regularly hosts events with local and visiting authors. Pyramid Bistro is located on the second floor and offers healthy fare for patrons to grab a veggie-forward lunch. 

If you are in search of Western ware, then a visit to Kemo Sabe is a must. Custom-design your own hat while soaking in a true Western experience, all with some of the most friendly service around. 

We’d be remiss not to mention Carl’s Pharmacy, a legendary Aspen pharmacy that is oh so much more than any ordinary small-town drugstore. While it’s stocked with the usual medicines, first aid provisions, make-up, and beauty supplies, it also features a basement “wine cellar,” filled with wine, spirits, and over 100 kinds of beer. The unique second floor is full of just about everything a person could want, including household goods, sports and outdoor gear, arts and crafts supplies, and toys and games. On the way up the stairs, visitors can pin to mark where they are from on the map!
