Bring Your Dog to Your Aspen Ski Vacation
Just because you’re spending your time galivanting down the slopes doesn’t mean you need to leave Fido behind! While he of course won’t be able to join you on the slopes, he can still enjoy the perks of a winter vacation. If you stay in pet-friendly condo Glory Hole Unit C, you’ll be close enough to check in on your pup between runs! Off-season, you can take your pup uphill on mountains like Buttermilk if they stay on-leash, follow pet policies (no pets on the mountain 8 AM-5 PM), and you have proper permits.
Should We Worry About Altitude Sickness in Dogs?
In short, yes; it’s definitely something to be aware of! As we know, humans often suffer from altitude sickness in Aspen due to the rapid change in elevation, and dogs are no different. Take it easy the first couple days of vacation—no intense hikes or crazy long outings. Your pup needs some time to get used to the change in air, too!
Dog-Friendly Parks and Trails

Make sure your pet gets out for proper exercise during your stay! Luckily, there are so many gorgeous parks and trails to explore that are more than welcoming for your pet. Aspen is known for its hiking, so you have to add a trail or two to your itinerary! These are just a few of our favorites:
- John Denver Sanctuary
- Paepcke Park
- Wagner Park Aspen
- Aspen/Snowmass Nordic Trail System (Note: dogs are only allowed on select trails. Make sure you do your research before setting out for the day! Leash laws vary along the trails, so you may be able to use voice control in some spots, but when in doubt, keep your pup on a leash.)
- Maroon Bells (Spots filled up, but want to try visiting without a reservation?)
- Marolt Open Space (Your pup will love swimming in the roundabout pond!)
- Buckskin Pass (Great route in Maroon Bells!)
- Rio Grande Park & Trail
