Renovations don't have to mean tearing down walls and ripping up floors. Taking a home down to the studs, as they say, can totally make a place feel like new. But sometimes, an update on furniture, finishes, and most importantly, looking at your space from a different perspective can have a dramatic impact as well.
One of our rental units near the base of chairlift 1A at 5th Avenue Condos went through a perspective shift recently and dramatic impact was achieved. The layout of the living room was flipped and this completely elevated the feel. Rather than the TV in the living room feeling like it shared the same space as the kitchen, the two rooms now feel like two individual rooms, even with the very open concept. Taking away some built-ins created a more open feel and the rearrangement and lessening of furniture helped the space breathe as well.
The kitchen saw a dramatic change with a simple coat of paint on the cabinetry. Gone is the dated light brown, here is a modern light grey. New, more luxurious stools surround the island and other than that, the appliances, backsplash, and countertops all stayed the same, but the final feel is one of 2018 rather than 2008.
The bedrooms saw the wallpaper removed and fresh white paint added to the walls. Updated bed configuration and linens all help to make the rooms feel more comfortable and high-end. Floors, trim and size all stayed the same but updating from a beige color palette to a cooler, more modern range or whites to greys helps establish an updated feel.
Looking at the after images paired with the before, it's not hard to see which is more appealing to renters! Our experienced Directors of Operations -- Ben and Cam -- are here to help our homeowners through any realm of renovation -- be it paint, furniture, or down to the studs.
