Yet another way to reach beautiful backcountry zones around Aspen, snowshoeing is an easy activity to pick up without any experience. There are several areas to explore, and guided tours are available.

NATURALIST-LED SNOWSHOE TOURS

Aspen Center for Environmental Science (ACES) offers naturalist-led snowshoe tours atop Aspen Mountain and Snowmass daily. Participants explore beautiful, remote trails on a 2.5-mile route and learn about a range of topics, including local wildlife, mountain ecology, Aspen history, avalanche science, and more.

Alternatively, ACES also leads four-hour snowshoe tours at Ashcroft, a pristine nature preserve at the end of Castle Creek Road. The tour includes a memorable lunch at Pine Creek Cookhouse!
